Floors Tiling

Grout Work specialises in transforming Spaces, elevating homes

Groutwork -Floor Tiling

Floor tiling is a meticulous process that begins with thorough surface preparation, ensuring the floor is clean, dry, and level to create a solid foundation for the tiles. Once the surface is ready, the layout is planned by marking the center points of the walls and snapping chalk lines to guide tile placement.

Benefits

Outdoor tiling offers numerous advantages that enhance both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of exterior spaces.

Durability

Tile flooring is exceptionally durable, capable of withstanding heavy foot traffic, moisture, and wear and tear. When properly installed and maintained, tile floors can last for decades, making them a cost-effective long-term solution.

Temperature Regulation

Tiles can help maintain comfortable temperatures in a room, keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter when used with underfloor heating systems.

Easy Maintenance

Tile floors are relatively easy to clean and maintain, requiring only regular sweeping and occasional mopping. They are resistant to stains, making them ideal for high-traffic areas and households with pets and children.

Versatility

Tiles come in a wide variety of styles, colors, shapes, and sizes, allowing for unique patterns and layouts to match any design vision. They can mimic the appearance of more expensive materials like hardwood or natural stone, providing a high-end look at a more affordable price.

Process

Surface Preparation

Ensure the floor is clean, dry, and level. Remove any debris, wax, or grease. Repair damaged or uneven areas and undercut door jambs for proper tile fitting.

Layout Planning

Mark the center points of walls and snap chalk lines to create a grid for tile placement. Dry-lay tiles to check alignment and adjust as needed.

Adhesive Application

Mix adhesive or mortar as per instructions, ensuring it is used within 30 minutes. Spread thinset evenly using a notched trowel at a 45-degree angle.

Tile Placement

Lay tiles gently with consistent pressure and slight twisting motion to ensure adhesion. Use spacers for even joints and check alignment with a spirit level or framing square.

Cutting Tiles

Use tools like snap cutters or tile saws for straight cuts and smooth edges with rubbing stones or files.

Grouting

After tiles set (24 hours), apply grout using a rubber float at a 45-degree angle, filling joints completely. Clean excess grout with a damp sponge once it sets but before it hardens completely

Final Cleaning and Finishing

Wipe tiles clean, remove haze, and apply caulk at 90-degree joints for waterproofing.
